Title: One Headlight
Artist: The Wallflowers
Album: Bringing Down the Horse
(note: leads in D major pentatonic [B blues])
[verse] G-D-F#m-Bm
G D
So long ago I don't remember when
F#m Bm
That's when they say I lost my only friend
They said she died easy of a broken heart disease
As I listened through the cemetary trees
I seen the sun coming up at the funeral at dawn
I've long broken all of human law
It always seemed such a waste
She always had a pretty face
I wondered why she hung around this place
G F#m
Hey hey hey...
[chorus:] G-D-Em-A
G
Come on try a little
D
Nothing is forever
Em A
There's got to be something better than in the middle
G
Me and Cinderella
D
Put it all together
Em A
We can drive it home ... with one headlight.
[verse]
She said its cold it feels like independence day
And I can't break away from this parade
But theres got to be an opening
Somewhere here in front of me
Through this maze of ugliness and greed
I seen the sign up ahead at the county line bridge
Saying all is good and nothing less its dead
Runnin' till she's out of breath
She ran until there's nothing left
She hit the end its just her window ledge
G F#m
Hey hey hey...
[chorus]
This place is old feels just like a beat up truck
I turn the engine but the engine doesn't turn
With smells of cheap ol' wine and cigarettes
This place is always such a mess
Sometimes I think I'd like to watch it burn
So alone I feel just like somebody else
Man I ain't changed but I know I ain't the same
But somewhere here in between
These city walls and dyin' dreams
I think her death it must be killing me
G F#m
Hey hey hey...
[chorus]

THe rest of the song follows the same pattern. We transcribed it a tone
lower than the album because the chords are easier (although you could
use a capo up one fret if you like). As usaul with the Dylan family, alot
of the lyrics are slurred and hard to understand. The Wallflowers Rule!
Bob and I have a new band called Lost Cause and are already working on our
first "real" studio album with a local label. Hope this file helped
someone.

I don^Тt own this CD (yet) so I^Тm trying to work this out
from the radio. I^Тm not sure about the Em chords at the
ends of the verses and the end of the chorus and I don^Тt have
the exact words in front of me, but I think the rest is

TAB: One Headlight
Artist: The Wallflowers
Album: Bringing Down the Horse
Okay, this is the first thing I am ever posting. I figure
since I take so much from OLGA, I might as well put something
in, so here's the chords to "One Headlight," a great off of
the Bringing Down the Horse lp.
This is a very easy with very few changes. These are almost
100% accurate. This song is in standard tuning, I believe.
The little intro is based around a D barre chord, here's the tab:
e----------------
B----------------
G----------------
D--------5--7--- 2x
A--0h5----------
E----------------
After that, the bass enters playing triplets of G, D, F#, and G
(he sometimes puts a B in, instead of the G). I believe the
bass clef notes are B, F#, A, and B (or sometimes D).
Verse 1
G D
So long ago, I don't remember when
F# G
that's when they say I lost my friend
G D
I said she died easy of a broken heart disease
F# G (or B)
I listenend through the cemetary trees
(Little guitar fills a D and G pentatonic scale)
Verse 2 (follow same format)
I see the sun coming up at the funeral at dawn
All were looking on in human (?) awe
Not it always seemed such a waste, she always had a pretty face
I wondered why she hung this place
(Slide guitar on G scale)
Hey, hey, heyyyyyyyyyyy
Chorus
G D
Come on, try a little, nothing is forever
Em A
There's got to be something better, in the middle
G D
Me and Cinderella, put it altogether
Em A
We could drive it home, with one headlight
Verse II
She says it's cold, it feels life Independence Day
And I can't break away from this parade
There's to be an open wind somewhere in front of me (?)
through this maze of ugliness and greed
I see the sun come up at the funeral bridge (?)
Said all is good and nothingness is dead
She runs until she's out of breath, she runs
until there's nothing left
until she hit the window (?)
Chorus
Solos
Chorus a few times and fade
Note: a (?) denotes when I had no idea what the hell
Jakob Dylan, so lyric corrections are welcome. Also,
if have two or more guitarists, I recommend making
one of them play slide guitar throughout the verses
to make up for lost fills.
Added bonus: Sixth Avenue Heartache is F, C, Gm, Bb
(from memory I'm doing this, it may be C, F, G, Bb).
Corrections are welcome,
thanx.
